Gods of Ancient Lands

In prehistory the scattered people in Egypt worshipped natural phenomena, seeing divinity in earth, sky, rain, sun, animals. As ancient Egypt grew, new villages added new gods. In those times there was little threat from invaders, so Egyptian mythology developed independently. Still, there is similarity between Heru Wer as a war god who also protected the peace and the god Nergal of the Babylonians. Whether one has its origins in the other is an open question.
